Worship Schedule Updates
Along with every other congregation in the world, we’re in the process of navigating a new landscape and discerning what being the Church will look like for us in this season in which we find ourselves. We remain committed to being the church we’ve always been; a congregation focused on loving our neighbors and welcoming all to join us in worship, service, learning, and taking the message of the Gospel into the world while tending to the physical, mental, and emotional well-being of those in our care.
To that end, we’re continually watching, learning, and changing to best pursue the mission of the Church. In the coming weeks, you’ll be seeing some of the fruit of those efforts, so we wanted to give you a heads up so you can join us wholeheartedly in moving forward in the best way possible.
As you may or may not know, since just shy of a year ago when we went exclusively online for worship in light of COVID-19, we’ve been pre-recording our online worship services to allow us a little more control over the process and to account for network congestion on Sunday mornings that was an issue early on in the pandemic. We’re grateful to Greg Graham who’s been doing most of this heavy lifting by himself.
Though we believe there are some elements we can better control with pre-recording, one significant thing we believe we lose is the connection with the live experience in the Worship Center at our Main Campus. Baptisms, the receiving of new members, the most up-to-date version of messages and prayers, and sensing the Spirit-filled presence of gathered believers are things not available in a pre-recorded service.
With large numbers of our congregation still out because of the continuing pandemic, we decided that making the live connection was a higher value to be pursued.
So on Sunday, February 7th we’ll LiveStream both our 8:30 and 9:45am worship services. Please note the new times to view online. These streams be be available at live.bluegrassumc.org and on our Facebook Page.
Besides the time changes, there will be one other modification. Unfortunately, at this time, we will no longer have our Saturday evening service online. The last Saturday service will be on January 30th. We will continue to have our scheduled Sunday evening service online at 6pm.
Thanks for your understanding as we continue to discern how to most effectively do ministry during these lingering days of pandemic.
As we have since the reopening of our physical campus, we’ll continue to observe best practices based on the guidance of the government and the CDC. Seating will continue to be limited and distanced in the Worship Center at our Main Campus, with plenty of overflow seating to make accommodations as folks continue to return. In line with current best practices, we’re requiring masks be worn by everyone participating in in-person worship with exceptions for health-related issues and age as identified in state guidelines. We thank you for your cooperation as we seek to create a space where everyone feels comfortable and safe.
BG Kids and BG Students
Our children and youth ministry teams are excited to be meeting in person once again, and have laid out a thorough plan to do so in the best way possible. To start, children’s class sizes are limited to allow for social distancing. Additionally, drop-off and pick-up procedures for both children and youth have been coordinated with the health and safety of all involved in mind; with temperature checks, masks required, and hand sanitizer stations readily available. Follow the links to see the full BGKids and BGStudents Reopening Plans, including details on class size limits, schedules, classroom layouts, and sanitizing procedures. We look forward to seeing your kids in person again, and continuing to pour into their lives with the message of the Gospel.
