Shine

Rev. Ben Lovell   -

The mission of God in the world calls us to go out and shine the light of Christ in service to others. Here are some opportunities to help you take your next steps.

Feed My Starving Children MobilePack
Every couple of years we partner with Feed My Starving Children to host a MobilePack Event that welcomes over a thousand volunteers from the community to pack meals that will be shipped around the world to fight malnutrition among children. To date, and with your help, we’ve shipped over 1.3 million meals.

We’re making plans to host another event in December of 2021 and are starting to raise funds now. The plan is to pack over 272,000 meals at a cost of $66,000 to feed 745 children for a year; literally changing their lives. If you’d like to help contribute and make this event happen, you can do so HERE. Just $88 will feed one child for a year and bring them from the brink of starvation.

Additionally, you can tell your coworkers, classmates, friends, and family, and make plans to join us for the MobilePack Event to help pack the meals and make a difference. Registration will begin in the Fall of 2021.

Evansville Rescue Mission Gobbler Gathering
In partnership with the Evansville Rescue Mission, we’re once again donating 1,000 cans of yams to the annual Gobbler Gathering. This is an event that presents families in our community with baskets of food for Thanksgiving. Go HERE to find out how you can sponsor one or more cans of yams and help us feed local families.

Tri-State Food Bank
The Tri-State Food Bank has is more vital than ever in the midst of the social and economic upheaval that’s come as a result of COVID-19. On Saturday, November 14th, they’re looking for volunteers to be stationed at local Schnucks grocery stores to collect food donations that will feed individuals and families during the holiday season. It’s a little time that could make a huge difference. If you’d like to volunteer, you can go to tristatefoodbank.org or EMAIL MARDI FILE at the Food Bank.

The Salvation Army/Cedar Hall
The Salvation Army is looking for volunteers to help them with their offsite after school and virtual learning programs for Cedar Hall students and schools whose programs are needing extra support as a result of COVID restrictions. They’re looking for cooks to help with their feeding program for the kids, and tutors who would be available to help students with virtual learning. To volunteer or learn more about this opportunity, EMAIL TARA OAKLEY at The Salvation Army.

Cedar Hall Christmas Gifts
Next month you’ll have the opportunity to sponsor a Christmas gift for a student at Cedar Hall that will provide necessities and some fun items for them as a way for us to share the love of Christ. Watch our website and social media feeds to see how you can donate to sponsor a gift and bless a child. Opportunities will be available to deliver the gifts to the school as well.

Other Organizations
There are a variety of community organizations we partner with as well who are always looking for volunteers to join them in their mission of meeting needs in the community and around the world. If you’d like to be put in touch with volunteer opportunities at places like the United Methodist Youth Home, the Ronald McDonald House, the Christian Life Center, and other community organizations, let us know by sending an EMAIL TO BEN LOVELL and we’ll help you get connected.
